Bikeways Public Open HouseCITY ANNOUNCES OPEN HOUSES AIMED AT EDUCATING RESIDENTS ABOUT BIKEWAYS All Indianapolis residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about Bikeways and connectivity in our city!! Representatives from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Office of Sustainability will visit neighborhoods throughout the summer beginning tomorrow to educate residents about the new bike lanes in Marion County. Mayor Greg Ballard prioritized adding bike lanes to Indianapolis streets, bringing the total of bike lane miles from less than one when he took office to more than 60 at present – connecting neighborhoods and making Indianapolis bike-friendly. City-sponsored open houses will teach residents how to use bike lanes, drive alongside bike lanes, safety tips, terms and signals for both bicycles and motorists, and how to read new bike lane signage and markings. Residents will learn how to plan their routes using the new bike lanes, greenways, and multi-use paths to get to their destinations. The open houses will take place at the following Indianapolis Public Library branches: 4 to 6 p.m.
To learn more about Mayor Ballard’s vision of transforming the City’s biking landscape to help make Indianapolis one of the most connected, livable cities in the Midwest, please visit www.indy.gov/bikeways. |
