Please join us for our June meeting on Monday, June 12th, at 6:30 p.m., at the MLK Center, located at 40th and Illinois Streets. At Monday’s meeting, we will hear from representatives of local IPS Schools, including Principal Bakari Posey, who will speak about new Action Based Learning pedagogy set to take root at James Whitcomb Riley 43, and Principal Mark Nardo of George Washington Carver Montessori School 87. BTNA President Clark Kirkman will discuss the latest regarding former IFD Station 16. We will welcome IMPD North District Commander Josh Barker, as well as a representative from Indy Parks, to discuss public safety, with a focus on the summer months at the newly redeveloped Tarkington Park. Also, we will hear from Gabe Soukup, who is redefining the meaning of “sweat equity” as he continues to work toward making Happy Brewing at 39th and Illinois a reality.
IN ADDITION, remember that IN ADVANCE of Monday’s meeting, at 6 p.m., 24 Indianapolis is hosting a party, complete with dinner and drinks, at the MLK Center to help those interested get involved with the upcoming biking/walking event in the neighborhood. Justin Hughes from 24 Indianapolis will also speak about the upcoming event during the normal meeting.
NOTE – BTNA will NOT meet in July. Our next meeting will be on August 14th.
