STREET CLOSINGS 11/6 – Monumental Marathon

A reminder that on Saturday, November 6, the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon will make its way through the Butler Tarkington neighborhood. Below you will find a course map. Please keep in mind there will be numerous road closings during the race, and 38th Street will be crowded throughout the morning/afternoon.  So please give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination Saturday morning.

Dear Neighbor:

Butler University is proud to host the 32nd annual Dick Lugar Community Run & Walk on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, beginning with registration at 6:45 a.m. The event includes a 5K run, a 5K race walk/fitness walk and a 10K run as well as a health and fitness fair at the Butler University Health and Recreation Complex (HRC) from 7-11 a.m. that is free and open to the public.

To keep you informed, we wanted to share with you a copy of the course for the events, which is on the back of this letter, and the general start times. The events schedule is as follows:

6:45-8:15 a.m. Registration/packet pickup in the Health and Recreation Complex
7:45 a.m. 10 K run begins outside Hinkle Fieldhouse
8:15 a.m. 5K run begins
8:20 a.m. 5K race walk and fitness walk begins
8:50 a.m. CYO 3K run begins
9:45 a.m. Awards ceremony

As in the past, some roads will be temporarily blocked off as the race goes through. All roads that are closed will reopen immediately after the last participant in the category has passed through. All roads should be back to full function no later than 10 a.m.

We invite our neighbors to participate in the run and the health fair. The Indiana Pacers’ Fan Van will be there, Butler’s HRC will do activities for kids from 8:15-9:30 in one of its multi-purpose rooms and Butler’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will be offering blood pressure screenings and wallet cards for tracking medications.
