INDIANAPOLIS – Tarkington Park is ready to play as its new playground makes its debut. Indy Parks today announced that Tarkington Park is once again welcoming children and their families to a completely revamped play space.

The new, modern playground includes a climbing wall, tunnels, slides, two half-court basketball courts, benches, and swings.

“From the moment you step onto the new playground, you know you are going to have a great time at Tarkington Park,” said Linda Broadfoot, Director of Indy Parks. “Our planning team really thought about how children were going to use this space. The vibrant colors, the cushiony surfaces and endless places to explore all serve to welcome families to this wonderful park.”

The park, which is located at 45 W. 40th Street, has undergone more than a year of construction and overall improvements. Improvements to the park were identified through a series of public input meetings and in collaboration with community-building organizations.

The nearly $6 million investment will also include accessible restrooms, café, splash plaza, and two full basketball courts. In partnership with the City of Indianapolis, funding partners, and community leaders, Indy Parks will host a Tarkington Park celebration and ribbon cutting early next year.
