Senator Waltz is planning on attending this event and would like to know if there will be any reserved seating available. If there is anyway someone would be able and willing to give me a call to discuss the event details with me, I would be grateful.

Sincerely,

Hiram Holt

In connection with the Christmas tree Recycling program is there a mulch byproduct which is available to the public? If so is the mulch free to the public and where would it be obtained and what would be the current contact information?

Thanks Joe Ash 317-844-5762 Bus. 317 848-7634

I have the Montessori Centres School opposite the canal. I DO NOT WANT any destruction of the canal. The flood comes from the river. It will totally destroy Rocky Ripple and stop. I will not be flooded, but all the people across the canal will be. Please erect a wall/dam along the river, which is just common sense.

After living on the Central Canal towpath for almost 40 years, I am horrified with the recent idea of placing a flood wall as high as six feet along the Central Canal’s berm side and a flood gate across it near Capitol Avenue. Many years ago it was determined that this section of the Canal, now to be affected by this levee project, was eligible for placement on the National Register of Historic Places. Copies of the Federal government documents which indicate this finding are filed with the Indiana Historic Landmarks Foundation (now Indiana Landmarks). At the time I learned of such eligibility I was also informed that such a determination of eligibility means that no governmental funds could be used to harm this historic landmark.
If this be the case, where is the sign-off by the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, under the National Historic Preservation Act allowing governmental funds to be used for this harmful project?
The Central Canal’s history begins in 1836 and the section from Broad Ripple to south of Fall Creek is the only remnant of watered canal left in Indiana which is in the same state as it was originally constructed. Its history together with its natural beauty and location make the Canal and its towpath one of the most loved lineal parks in the United States.

To be fair, there is no view of the Central Canal to be lost to this wall from BT. The area proposed is dense honeysuckle with 3-5 feet of mounded dirt and a set of powerlines. The wall will not start until Capitol and it clearly states in the Corps of engineers proposal that the wall will be 1'-3' high to Butler. You cannot see the canal sitting in a truck as you drive by in the winter (no foliage). If anything, clearing of non-native honeysuckle will improve canal access to BT residents.

Protesting this project may push the wall back to the North side of the canal, thus closing our canal towpath to running/biking.

Please reconsider our stance on this issue.
